The book is a first edition, first printing as evidenced by no mention of later editions on the copyright page.

The book has black boards and gold lettering. The boards have no knocks or signs of wear. Internally there are no marks or inscriptions. The pages are clean and white, have no tears or creases, and the binding is tight with some light rubbing to the spine ends.

The very good dust jacket is complete showing the original cover price of £15.99. It has a little creasing to the edges and slight fading to the lower edge at the back..

Overall a very good copy of a novel by a popular author.

The book is not an ex library book, it has no remainder marks or publisher's stamps.

Ben Elton

Ben Elton's career as both performer and writer encompasses some of the most memorable and incisive comedy of the past twenty years. His work as a stand-up comedian hosting such ground-breaking television series as Saturday Live and The Man from Auntie has been hugely influential, as have his hit television sitcoms The Young Ones, Blackadder and The Thin Blue Line.

Elton has written three hit West End musicals, including the global phenomenon We Will Rock You, which he also directs, and three West End plays, including the multi-award-winning Popcorn. His internationally bestselling novels include Stark, Inconceivable, Dead Famous and High Society. In 2000 he wrote and directed the feature film Maybe Baby, based on his acclaimed novel Inconceivable.



Synopsis of this title

It's 2.15a.m. and the phone rings. The protagonist of this tale is lying awake, listening to the sound of his own voice on the answer machine informing the caller that there is no one there and thinking that only someone with bad news would ring at this time of night. He is right, it is a blast from the past.
